I Saw the Fire Before It Came

There are moments in life when you just know.
It was an ordinary day — nothing out of place — but suddenly, I saw it. A quick flash in my mind’s eye: fire. A spark. Just long enough to stop me in my tracks.
It wasn’t a dream. I was wide awake.
But it was clear. And it was loud in my spirit.
Pray. Now.
So I did. I covered my investment property and began to pray. Not just over the building, but over the people who lived inside. My tenants. Their children. Their peace. I didn’t fully understand what was happening, but I knew not to ignore it.
Days later, I got the call.
There had been a fire.
The abandoned property next door was set fire and because my property was only feet away, it caught fire as well. But thank God no one was hurt. Not a single soul. The property had damage, yes, but what stood out more than the destruction… was the divine protection.
In that moment, I realized three powerful truths:
-
God whispers before the storm.
-
Intuition isn’t random — it’s revelation.
-
Even when the fire comes, God will leave you with a foundation to rebuild.
As a Black woman, a landlord, an investor, and a spiritual being… that moment shifted me. I no longer questioned the voice I hear. I honor it. I listen. I follow the nudge. And I trust that what’s revealed is always for my protection — or for my growth.
If you’re in a season where it feels like the fire has come for everything —
your peace, your purpose, your progress —
I want to remind you:
You will rise.
You are covered.
And what remains after the fire is what you’re meant to build on next.
